HRT substantially reduces bone loss and lowers fracture risk, but it does not eliminate osteoporosis risk for every woman. Genetic factors, baseline bone density, nutritional history, physical activity level, and the presence of other health conditions all influence outcomes independently. What HRT does consistently and meaningfully is slow the accelerated bone loss that follows estrogen decline and maintain density at levels that reduce fracture risk over time. For many women, that protection is clinically significant and life-altering.
